American Orthodox Catholic Church

The story of the American Orthodox Catholic Church is one of hope, vision, and faithful witness in a new land. In the early 20th century, Aftimios Ofiesh, a bishop rooted in the ancient traditions of Eastern Christianity, recognized the need for an authentically Orthodox expression of the faith for American people. With missionary zeal and pastoral care, he worked to establish a Church that would remain faithful to apostolic tradition while speaking clearly to the culture and life of America.

Under his leadership, the Church sought to bring together diverse communities, offering unity in faith while embracing the richness of different backgrounds. It stood as a witness that the ancient Church was not confined to one nation or language, but was truly catholic—universal and alive.

Though its path has not been without challenges, the legacy of this mission endures. It is a story marked by courage, adaptation, and a deep desire to see the fullness of the Christian faith take root and flourish in American soil, bearing fruit for generations to come.
“Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12:1 (WEB-CE)
